5 Holy cow I never wanted it to end stars!!!!
Did I have a life before reading Cassandra Clare’s Shadow hunters??? If I did I can’t remember it. I put off reading this book for so long after the first 5 because I did not want the journey to end.Holy cow what a journey. I don’t even know how to write a review without spoilers!! I cannot say how much I enjoy Cassandra Clare’s writing style. I can picture everything vividly in my mind. It’s unreal how emotionally invested I was in this series. If you haven’t read any of the previous books in this series do not read this review. If you have then continue on. I promise I didn’t spoil anything..
This story starts off introducing you to new characters. What? New characters at the beginning of the book.. yup. I cannot wait to see what lays ahead for these new characters in Cassandra’s new book Lady Midnight (out March 8 2016). Yes it’s about shadow hunters and it also brings back into play Tessa and someone else. I can’t even say who the someone else is without spoiling it!!! However if you read infernal devices you will know who I’m talking about.
Clary and Jace are still trying to defeat Sebastian in this book. I mean I don’t understand so far Clary and Jace have been right and the Clave never believes them! I’m really loosing hope in this clave business. Jace is trying to control the heavenly fire with in him. He can barely touch anyone including Clary however he needs to learn to control it to beat Sebastian. Sebastian starts to attack shadow hunters and turn them into endarkeneds. Of course no one understands that you can’t save the evil shadowhunters. They no longer had souls.. therefore they are no longer shadow hunters. Of course Jace and Clary know how to fight them and not try to reason with them. Why oh Why does the Clave never listen!!!
The Lightwoods are in such turmoil. Their parents are no longer together… they lost their little brother. (damn you Sebastian!!) Izzy does’t know how to tell Simon what he means to her. Alec is still not back together with Magnus. It’s horrible!!
Oh Sizzy… I don’t even know how to explain that relationship. Except they are my two favorite characters out of this series and just when you think they start to get their crap together something else happens!!
Maia finally comes into her own in this book. I enjoyed her before but she seemed a bit childish. However this book she really becomes who she is supposed to be!( I know so vague.. you want to know go read the series!!!)
The deaths start so early in this book. The first death actually affected me so much I set the book down and said WTH repeatedly. This book had me so happy, then mad, then sad, then happy, then sad. I will warn you the last couple chapters of the book had me bawling. I was like nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!! I am trying so hard not to spoil the end. I loved the epilogue seeing all of those people who you have been on this journey with celebrating something good for once.
If you haven’t started this series I don’t know what the heck you are waiting for!! GO DO IT NOW!!
