3 it was to long to care stars!
It had such a good start… then it bombed for me 😦
This was such a good book in the beginning, with lots of fall over LOL moments. I was drawn into the story of trying to figure out whom Karou really was. She comes off as a typical teenager in the beginning of the book. Typical as in she has an attitude and doesn’t regard elders in esteem. Karou enjoys art she is constantly sketching through out this book. I listened to this on audio book so I’m unsure if the sketches are actually in the book. It would be awesome if they were. In the beginning Karou introduces you to her normal friends, an ex and the best friend. You get to see her life going to classes and work. It’s at work that you realize she is not a normal girl. She runs errands for a “demon” for lack of a better term. She doesn’t know where she came from or why Brimstone adopted her. The lack of knowing who she was spurred me on to read more.
Then we get introduced to Akiva actually he tries to kill Karou when he first meets her.You will be so surprised or maybe not.. he’s an angel. Get it angel and demons?? I had such hope for this book once Akiva realizes whom Karou is but they drag out her finding out who she is I feel for way to long. There is a lot of turmoil coming from both sides. Karou doesn’t want to know her “enemy” or be attracted to him. Akiva is curious as to how Karou is here. Last he saw her she couldn’t be here or anywhere for that matter. Then I got to the point where it started dragging and this happened!
At first the love/hate relationship is okay. Then as the story moves on about 3/4 of the way through I got frustrated with the characters and lack of actual talking. It was more like “you should know” and “what should I know” for the rest of the book. The last couple chapters are dedicated to informing you.. It just felt really drawn out for me. Maybe it was the audiobook, maybe it was the actual book….I don’t know. I know that I will not be reading the rest of the series for sure.
