Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, Robin Wasserman

5 I can’t get enough of Shadowhunter’s stars!!!

Shadow Hunter

There is so much I want to say but can’t say because it would be spoilers for the other Shadowhunter series.  So if you haven’t read either series (Infernal Devices or Mortal Instruments) You may want to skip this review.  I hate to turn anyone off from reading my blog but I honestly don’t know if I will spoil anything for you…

First off this is a bind up of 10 novella’s about Shadowhunter Academy.  You think you are getting 10 novella’s all about Simon at Shadowhunter academy (see spoiler already) but you are not.  You get to see all of your favorite characters from both series and then some.  You get to see past students including circle members and what lead them to be who they are today.  You see people we haven’t formally met but were mentioned in other books.  The insight provided in these novella’s was amazing.  I highly suggest reading these before Lady Midnight comes out or before you read it.. I also found out that the 10 novella’s separately create the above picture.  While I enjoy seeing pictures of Simon since he is one of my favorite characters.. I hate how he is holding that bow and arrow.  (see minor pet peeve since I actually own a bow and know I couldn’t hit crap with it held like that)  Anyway the 10 books included in this bind up are

1. Welcome to Shadowhunter Academy
2. The Lost Herondale
3. The Whitechapel Fiend
4. Nothing But Shadows
5. The Evil We Love
6. Pale Kings and Princes
7. Bitter of Tongue
8. The Fiery Trial
9. Born to Endless Night
10. Angels Twice Descending

I was going to attempt to review each book solely.  However the spoilers would be insane!! So I will tell you what I loved about these books.  You get to see Simon again!  He’s off to Shadowhunter academy to train and ascend. The academy itself is in ruins, literally falling apart.  The meals that aren’t meals in these novella’s are hilarious.  Everyone seems to have taken a side in the beginning Simon is sitting with the elite crew.  Being an elite means you area  child who’s parent’s are Shadowhunter’s now.  He is set with this crew because of what happened in the Mortal Instruments.  However he realizes what crap this is because he’s just a mundane ( a human/ or muggle lol)  So he decides to stay with the mundanes.  Insert George his very lovable roommate… who also decides to switch to the mundane side with Simon.  I absolutely love George maybe even more than Simon…So through Simon going to this school he hears stories and learns more about the past and present of the Shadowhunter world.  Yes spoiler ahead you get a story about Will, Jem, and Tessa…….sigh…….You also get to see into the Circle and into Valentine’s head!! CREEPY!! I’m trying to not spoil anyone so I guess I’ll end it there.  Please, please read the other series before you read this or you will be SOOOO spoiled

The New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling collection of short stories chronicling the adventures of Simon Lewis as he trains to become a Shadowhunter is now available in print for the first time with ten brand-new comic illustrations!

Simon Lewis has been a human and a vampire, and now he is becoming a Shadowhunter. The events of City of Heavenly Fire left him stripped of his memories, and Simon isn’t sure who he is anymore. So when the Shadowhunter Academy reopens, Simon throws himself into this new world of demon-hunting, determined to find himself again. Whomever this new Simon might be.

But the Academy is a Shadowhunter institution, which means it has some problems. Like the fact that non-Shadowhunter students have to live in the basement. At least Simon’s trained in weaponry—even if it’s only from hours of playing D&D.

Join Simon on his journey to become a Shadowhunter, and learn about the Academy’s illustrious history along the way, through guest lecturers such as Jace Herondale, Tessa Gray, and Magnus Bane. Written by Cassandra Clare, Sarah Rees Brennan, Maureen Johnson, and Robin Wasserman, these moving and hilarious short stories are perfect for the fan who just can’t get enough of the Shadowhunters.
