Risking it All, by Christi Barth

Risking it all

Let’s me start off by saying while this may not have been my cup of tea the author has set up a great premise for future stories about naked men.  Not literal naked men but the blog in the story called naked men.  I think that was one of my favorite parts of this story. The fact that these men laid all of their crap out on this blog and were mildly hilarious and inspiring all at the same time.  I actually kind of wish I could subscribe to this blog they write 😉

In this book we follow Griff who is a Coast Guard rescue pilot who is used to taking risks and saving lives.  When he was in High School Griff saved his friends in the Alps after their bus crashed.  Every since then he seems to be the rescuer of the group.  After he pushes a rescue mission to far and becomes an internet sensation he is put on leave.  While trying to figuring out what to do on his leave time he bumps into Chloe.  He automatically feels attracted to Chloe even though she doesn’t seem interested in him.  When he learns of all the baggage that is included with dating/seeing Chloe will he try to rescue her or walk away?

Chloe who doesn’t step out of her comfort zone for reason decides to take Griff up on a date she thinks she is loosing her mind.  Chloe also has had something tragic happen in her life and thinks she has moved on from it.  Everything is set up a certain way in her life. Her best friend claims she is settling for the safest route when she should be out living it up. Will she step out of her comfort zone??

I have to say the story was really cute and I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the brotherhood between Griff and his best friends. The joking around they did is only done by friends who have been together a  long time.I also enjoyed the relationship between Chloe and her BFF.  I liked hearing about the naked men blog even though we don’t see a lot of the posts.  I would’ve like to of seen more of those…

While I thought the story was cute there were some things I couldn’t get over.  The book seemed to kind of hop all over  One minute it’s all about how they are on their first date and then she is in his lap and telling him her life story? It just wasn’t really that believable. There is one big thing that stops their relationship from taking the next step and I feel like this thing while it could’ve turned into a blip for them to overcome took over the whole book almost 80 percent of the book was about this one thing.  I don’t think it should’ve been that big of a deal it was brought up a lot.

Again while this book may not have been my exact cup of tea it might be just the book for you!  I would probably give this author another shot because her plot premise is a great idea.

Who doesn’t love Naked Men? In Christi Barth’s irresistible series, a group of close-knit friends talk out their problems with naked honesty on a popular blog. Bonded by a high-school tragedy, they’re moving on from the past—and fighting for the future with strong and sassy women.

Griffin Montgomery helps people. As a teenager, he kept his best friends alive after their soccer team’s bus crashed in the Alps. Now, as a Coast Guard search and rescue pilot, he saves lives with reckless abandon—until he goes too far and earns a lengthy suspension. Working on the Naked Men projects keeps his mind busy, but Griff’s itching to get back in the action. That’s when he finds his latest rescue mission: a pretty wallflower who’s stuck in her comfort zone.

Chloe Widmore doesn’t take risks. As a professional letter writer, she gets enough excitement out of expressing other people’s emotions. So when the hottest man she’s ever seen invades her coffee shop, Chloe surprises herself with how much she wants to be with him. Routines make her feel safe. Griff makes her deliciously unsafe, in so many ways. But falling for him is one risk she might just have to take . . . whether she’s ready or not.
