3 back into Twilight I go stars!!
Not gonna lie.. I didn’t even know this novella existed. Perhaps I have been living under a rock during my reading of the Twilight books?? I’m not sure. Either way I found it at my local thrift store for a $1.00 so of course I bought it. I had to think back really hard on who this Bree Tanner would be in the bigger books. It really did not hit me until near the end of the novella who she was. Then I had a light bulb moment and was like I can’t believe I did not see that coming!!
So this book is obviously about Bree and her life after she became a vampire. She has only been a vampire a few short months and is in a not so nice group. However Bree seems to think outside the box. She does have blood lust but she also has reasoning… that’s something a lot of her cohorts do not have. You get to meet some really interesting characters including Fred. Is it sad to say I loved Fred more than Bree or Diego? I always seem to fall for the side characters… why is that? So we follow Bree and Diego on a night adventure in town. Then some things lead to another and they find out their leader is lying to them but why? We are getting a glimpse into the “other” vampires lives in this book. Not the Cullens… they do however make an appearance.
All in all I would have to say this is not my favorite novella, however it wasn’t really lacking in anything major. I probably would’ve rated it higher if I would’ve read it while reading Twilight. Everyone has a different opinion on Twilight. I personally really enjoyed it. The Twilight series had so many young people reading for the first time and most of them probably kept reading after that. Just like the Hunger Games started another generation. So hate on Twilight all you want as long as you are reading who cares what it is??
