5 maybe I’ll move to Louisiana stars!
This book… how do I explain the extreme feelings I had for it…
Does that describe it enough for you? This book had everything I needed!! Romance, sassy and strong female character, angst, wrong identities!! The list goes on and on. I’m pretty sure Mrs. Layne couldn’t write a bad book even if it was the phone book!!
This book starts out following the up and coming country music star Jenny Dawson. She is labeled as a good girl however her change of scenery to LA may have done the opposite of lighting her creative fires. The tabloids are starting to really get to her. They are hinting that she’s pregnant but it’s definitely just a burrito baby. (we have all had one of those) As if things couldn’t get worse she is then linked to something seriously scandalous. So instead of fighting back she decides to lay low in a place that brings her happy memories. A cottage in the wood in Louisiana… it may be more run down than she remembers but it’s perfect for her getaway. With a few things including her little “cotton ball” dog (ps.. I LOVED this dog) she gets away from all technology. However when she arrives there seems to be a bigger complication.. the handy man Noah. He seems to be way to attractive for the attitude he is giving off. Can she resist his lack of charm 😉
Noah is in between worlds, he is the other side of the tracks and the richest part of the neighborhood. His complicated life has led him to flee and seek refuge in the care taker cottage on his own land. It gets even more complicated when he decides to rent it out to the infamous Jenny Dawson. I loved how Noah had a friend from each side of the tracks and while each of these friends argued all the time I bet they would back each other 100%. Poor Noah is unsure where his life is going and he’s just trying to sort out some things. He doesn’t want any woman let alone the scandalous Jenny. He is trying to escape the rich and famous. When she shows up he may lie just a little bit about who he is. Can he keep the attraction and lie going? Or will he fall for the country star.
I have to say the chemistry in this book was off the charts! (pink zip ties well played) Not only for the “romantic” moments but for the little ones in between when they fight the attraction so long and the scene that happens in the truck bed was marvelous. I love it when I’m invested into the characters of a story and I definitely was in these two.. let alone the dogs and the best friends. This is listed as a NA novel however the sexy scenes are a little more sexy than your typical NA book. I don’t think they were over the top I mean the characters were 22 and 27. I know some people are sensitive about this stuff.
Thank you to NetGalley, Loveswept and the lovely and talented Lauren Layne for the advanced copy of this book
