Tuesday Tidbits 10/10/16

 

Hey everyone, how was your weekend?  Mine was actually rather calming.  The kids were away Friday night until Sunday.  I didn’t get as much done as I wanted but I still had a good time.  On Saturday I went to have my pink streaks put back into my hair.  I’ll try to share a picture below.  Why do I put pink in my hair? Funny you asked that question (even if you didn’t I’m going to answer it!) it is for Breast Cancer Awareness month.  Although I feel most awareness months/weeks are not enough… However dying my hair has brought up many conversations as to why I do it.  Apparently if you are an old fuddy duddy like me dying your hair a bright color is frowned upon.  So when someone asks why pink? Or just says your hair looks nice. I reply back “Thanks! It’s pink for breast cancer month, don’t forget to check yourself!” However if I am talking to a guy I kindly remind him to remind his wife, daughter, mother, etc. to get checked regularly.  Early detection is the key in most cases.  This is a cause very near and dear to my heart, I have friends with breast cancer, some in remission, some not.  I have a mother who is Stage IV metastatic.  I would also like to take a moment to ask that you research where you donate to during these months.  While I’m not going to advocate one to the other some breast cancer research groups do not actually give a lot to research/curing.  So please think before you pink!! Know exactly where that donation is going…

On a lighter note after the pink was put into my hair we went to see Chris Pratt in a movie… oopps I’m sorry we went to see the Magnificent Seven. *sigh* Chris Pratt… ahem. The movie was actually pretty good. I didn’t see the original so I can’t compare it. I loved every character in this movie, and I’m not going to lie I mainly went to see Chris Pratt but everyone was great in it.  I think they each had a quality that they brought to their specific character that set the movie in a great direction. There were hard moments and there were light moments.  A couple little chuckles here or there…Overall I would rate it a solid 5 star movie.  Probably not grammy worthy or anything but I would buy it when it came out.

Onto books and such, I’m currently reading Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes and I’m not going to lie… Joe isn’t grabbing my attention as much as You. I’m near the end probably a little over a hundred pages to go.. so we will see how it ends.  I am also reading To Love and To Cherish by Lauren Layne it comes out next week. I love this series so far, and I have been dying to read these two characters stories! I’m only about 25 percent in but so far so good!
