5 Leese’s book is here stars!!
I am always excited to get my hands on a new Lori Foster book. However Leese’s story was not something I was prepared for. I knew him from the Ultimate series and while he is a side character in that series he really left an impression on me. I am so glad his story is finally being told. Leese’s character is so much more complex than I would’ve thought. He feels compelled to protect the little person no matter what. This is due to an incident that happened before he became the good guy he is now. When he first gets assigned to protect Catalina he does so no matter what. At first he is of course completely professional but he can’t help but enjoy her lack of filter. Cat is always saying anything that comes to her mind. Most of the time its to compliment Leese’s manly physique or tell him how chivalrous he is. Leese of course never believes her and keeps her at arm length. However when things get more dangerous and they are in closer quarters will he let his guard down long enough to let her in?
Catalina had so many layers I’m not sure even when I finished the book that we peeled through them all. At first she seemed like a timid little mouse, but the more you read the more you saw she was courageous and amazing. All of Lori Foster’s female characters match the men in bravery and courageousness. It is one of the main reasons I am always drawn to her books. Catalina poses all of these characteristics and more, she is unbelievably selfless. She always wants to sacrifice herself in order to save others. She doesn’t want Leese to get hurt protecting her, let alone anyone else. I really enjoyed her easy banter with Justice in this book. She seems to get along well with everyone in this book so its hard to believe that anyone would want to do her harm. However the people who want to do her harm mean business. Will she be able to tell Leese and the rest of Body Armor all of her secrets before time runs out?
I am so excited that we get to see the Ultimate fighters back in this book. I was hoping for a glimpse of one or two characters, however Lori Foster exceeded my expectations. I loved how when they did come back they just melded into the book like they had been there the whole time. Throughout Lori’s books she creates families that extend beyond series and that is just amazing. You never have to read the books before, every book can be read as a standalone. However I really enjoy seeing past characters come into play in future books.
Thank you Lori Foster, HQN Books and Net Galley for my copy in lieu of my honest review.
