I was very unsure going into this book, after reading book one then reading the synopsis of book two I did not like the plot set up. However I did like both characters separately from the previous book so I decided to give it a go.
Zoey is definitely a character, she is out there in personality. However she is always there for her best friend, and those in need. I really loved her back story with her family and how it shaped her as a person today. I adored how she didn’t want to cross the friend-zone with Caleb because of the girlfriend code with Delia. She really took it slow with him, practically at a turtle pace which was super sweet and out of character for her.
I fell in love with Caleb in book one, I didn’t know at the time who he was destined for but he was so stinking adorable. He comes off as your all american boy, but has a few secrets he is keeping. I really liked that he respected Zoey’s wishes to go very slow and not get to serious to fast. Also who can’t fall in love with a guy who is in love with their cat??? Their roommate banter was really funny, how one would do something to irritate the other, but in a funny way.
This one had the same great texting material as the first one, but I wasn’t as in love with the plot. I’m not sure anyone can live up to Zach and Delia’s story but I am going to continue with series and see where it takes me.
I’m a Missouri-raised gal, but currently live in North Carolina with my US Marine husband and 8-year-old Miniature Pinscher. I spend my days begging him for a cat, and I survive off coffee, pizza, and sarcasm. When I’m not writing, you can find me binge-watching various TV shows, especially Supernatural and One Tree Hill. I like cold weather, buy more paperbacks than I’ll ever read, and I never say no to brownies.
