Strike One-My mother named me Theodore after her favorite chipmunk.

Not cool, Mom.

I‘ve spent most of my life answering to Teddy, because I couldn’t make Theo work.

Except for here. College. The place where all bets are off, and I’ve managed to redeem myself.
There’s only one problem, my new roommate, Troy, is football royalty and looks like he stepped off the set of an Abercrombie shoot.

Doesn’t matter, I cook a mean breakfast for his panty parade, and we get along well.
And anyway, this year I got the girl. And she’s perfect.

That’s right. Theodore Houseman, former band geek, now marching band rock star has finally landed the girl of his dreams.

Everything is perfect.

That is, until Troy takes a good look at her.

I’m not going down without a fight. As a matter of fact, I’m not going down at all. As glorious as these days may be for my all-star roommate, Laney is my end game.

I may not know much about play strategy, but I’ve been the good guy my whole life. I’ve been listening and I know exactly what women want. Framed in a picture standing next to me, Troy may seem like Mr. Perfect, but he’s underestimating the guy on the right.

Spoiler alert: In this story, the underdog is going to win.

My Review…

Well done Kate Stewart, well done… I was starting to get bored and lost in romance land and boom this book happened! This book made me laugh, cry and everything in between.  These two had a slow burn romance from friends to much more than friends and I very much enjoyed every moment of it.  Sometimes romance novels just go from hi to insta love and I just needed a break from that. These two were almost combustible at points and I just really enjoyed the fact that they really took the time to learn about each other and that the book spans over a whole school year.

The hysterical points in this book were probably some of my favorite parts.  Whether it was just Theo and Laney, or Laney and her BFF it didn’t matter it was amazingly good.  I loved how Laney’s outrageous behavior dragged a little bit of a wilder side out of Theo.  I adored how Theo pretty much adopted Laney’s dog and mom as his own.  He never left them out of anything, it just goes to show how great of a guy he really is.

I could really gush about this book all day long because it’s just that good.  However, I think everyone should just read it.  The love triangle isn’t really a triangle and it’s kind of hard to explain without spoiling it, so if you don’t like love triangles then don’t worry about it with this one.

“God, I’m never going back there.”
“Yes, you are,” I say softly. “This too, shall pass. And you look… you look,” I avert my eyes, “you look really good, Theo. There’s no way she’s not regretting it right now.”
“Troy is over six foot with an eight pack, and I’ve got mabs.”
“Mabs?”
He gives me a reluctant grin. “Maybe abs?”
