3.5 stress baking for all its worth stars!!
Struggling barista Katie Bloom doesn’t even know who Jesse Mayes is until she inadvertently wins the coveted role of sex kitten in his hot new music video. But by the time she’s in bed with him, she knows his reputation.
Love maker. Heartbreaker.
Making out with a stranger in front of a camera crew isn’t how Katie imagined herself getting over a broken heart, but when Jesse touches her, sparks fly. The sex is fake but the chemistry is real, and soon the steamy video is blazing up the charts.
Then Jesse makes Katie an irresistible offer: act as his girlfriend for six weeks while he promotes his new album. The only catch? Their sizzling make-out sessions will be for the cameras only.
Which is fine with Katie, since she’s not about to trust her heart to rock’s most legendary lover. Her body? Maybe…
My Review…
This was a super cute, angsty read… I enjoyed Katie’s character a lot more than Jesse’s. This is your normal plot line set up to have a fake relationship that kind of turns real. This author plotted out the relationship really well but not only that she lined up the band family amazingly well. There is real family involved in this book, but you are more involved with the band than anyone else. I can’t wait for the other band members books.
Katie was adorable in her let it go attitude, I liked how she didn’t even know who Jesse was at first. Katie also stress bakes which was really cute, I wish we would’ve gotten more about her drawing or painting. We got some of her sketching during the touring but not in detail. I guess I would’ve liked more detail about that. I liked seeing the bolder all about me side of Katie come out though, the side that said she didn’t care what her ex thought or what Jesse wanted she was doing things her way. I loved what she did for Jesse towards the end of the book even though she didn’t need too it was really sweet.
Jesse wasn’t as complicated a character he really cared deeply for his immediate family whether blood or not. I loved how he made promised to Katie even before he had feelings for her, and he kept them. He told her she would be safe on his tour and he kept that promise. He was also very kind to every single fan he came across even if they were crazy. Overall Jesse’s character was very well rounded but had room for improvement throughout the book which happens.
About the Author…
Jaine Diamond is a contemporary romance author, fond of writing the love stories of built and badass men endowed with massive hearts, and strong, complex women she’d love to have a cocktail with.
She lives in beautiful Vancouver, Canada with her real-life romantic hero (Mr. Diamond) and their daughter, where she reads, writes, and drinks copious amounts of tea.
This one sounds like something I would like to read! I don’t know that I’ve read a book with the video girl angle before. I also love fake relationships. Great review!
