It started with a lie. A night of blurred lines between a teacher and a student.

I wasn’t her student, yet it was the single most defining night of my life.

I’ve never been the man she thinks I am.

Most people have no idea about the life I’ve lived or the words that ring true when it comes to me—still waters run deep.

But you’d be hard-pressed to find a coed on the TGU campus who knows otherwise…because I’ve never corrected them.

The clock is ticking down, it’s Fourth and Inches with the ball inside the one-yard line and the focus is on me, The Guy on the Left. I’ve never felt like a football god, inside I’m…just Troy.

It’s time to set the record straight.

For my son, I‘ll find the strength.

In her eyes, I’m determined to gain redemption.

I will have them both, even if I have to take my eye off the ball.

All books in the series can be read as a stand-alone.

My Review…

I loved my first Kate Stewart book the guy on the right, and had super high hopes for the guy on the left. That being said you can see I still rated this four stars so it didn’t let me down I just could not get past the heroine being so selfish and self depreciating all the time.  She was okay when she wasn’t being so danged “oh no you did me wrong let me torture you, me and our child forever”.  She didn’t evolve and I think that’s what bothered me the most, however her as a mother was perfect.  Dante is a great kid and you can see as a single mom she is doing a great job of raising him.  Her as an educator is also a great side to see I loved that side of her.  I hope we also have a book of her and her BFF because her BFF is amazing.  So Clarissa does have some good qualities, but most of the time I just wanted to strangle her.

Kate really outdid herself with creating Troy in this book, because in the first book I hated him.  In this book you get to see that he really isn’t a huge womanizer, that he has been working really hard towards one goal for the  past five years.  He wants to be near his son and he is so close to that goal.  Every time Troy interacted with his son it was way to precious for words.  I loved every second of it, Dante was everything this book needed.  I always love books with kids and watching them interact with adults and the fact that she didn’t shy away from what kids actually say and do was amazing, the lactose intolerant scene was perfect because as soon as she said he was I was like OH NO because my son is too and I knew what was going to happen.

All in all I can’t wait to see what continues to happen with the characters in this series, will it be the guy in the middle next?  I also enjoyed that this book sort of overlapped the Guy on the Right so you got to see things going on from the previous book in this book.  However they all can be read as stand alones.
