The only thing standing between me and death is my secret.

I’m a Legacy—a secret I’d planned on taking to my grave. Gareth, the enigmatic leader of the Supernatural Guild, knows it, but can I trust him to keep it? When mysterious deaths occur as a result of magic that mimics my own, I no longer have to worry about Gareth exposing me – it will be one of my own that does. Another Legacy is causing the chaos, and I’m forced to hunt my own kind. It seems simple, but we’ve existed for as long as we have because we’re better hunters than prey.

I’m forced to work with Gareth to clear my name and find the Legacy responsible. Not only is my secret about to be revealed—so is his. Gareth is much more dangerous than I expected. Is he my friend or my enemy?

My Review…

This book really kept my attention the whole time, and I was so invested I didn’t even notice how much time was going by as I was reading.  Levy is very unsure in this book on who she can trust and I really don’t blame her.  Everyone in this book seems to want to use her as a pawn.  Levy is one tough cookie she keeps fighting and never backs down. I enjoy how sassy she is, yet she seems to be very forgiving.  She never actually wants to kill anyone, even the people that are out to get her.  Everyone should have a chance to redeem themselves.

I really like how this series is starting to evolve into something more, there are bad guys, and good guys, and bad good guys.  You learn more and more about the magic system and different levels of class systems among each supernatural.  Something about this story and the authors writing just seems to suck you in.  I did download book three right away when finishing book two.

“A Legacy, a vampire, and a shapeshifter sat in a living room–that sounded like the beginning of a lame joke. Not the beginning of a tale where they are locked in with a petite blonde getting their collective asses handed to them. Gareth still seemed to be in the thrall of the shock of being dressed down by someone who wasn’t his superior.  Lucas seemed to experiencing the same confusion.”

About the Author…

McKenzie Hunter

McKenzie, as a child, discovered that her life could be a whirlwind of adventures by simply opening a book. To this day, reading is still her favorite activity. She has a fondness for fantasy and mystery, which is probably why she writes urban fantasy.

When McKenzie isn’t working on her next book she is usually binge-watching paranormal and comedy shows, maintaining her title as “favorite auntie”, or trying to create a tasty low-calorie pizza. McKenzie loves to hear from her readers. Feel free to contact her via her website, Facebook, or email.
