Finding Father Christmas & Engaging Father Christmas by Robin Jones Gunn

4 wonderful Christmas story stars!!

Finding Father Christmas / Engaging Father Christmas

This is a book combo, it contains two stories! Which is fantastic because once I finished the first one I immediately wanted the second book. While this is a Christian fiction book I did not feel “preached too” in any way.  God is just a calming presence in these books.

Both of these stories are about Miranda finding her father, and family in London.  She has been unsure of her heritage since a young girl.  Her mother seems to have led a life in a nonsensical way.She was an actress so that always seemed to take precedence over Miranda’s life.  When she finally travels to London after unearthing some clues about her father she finds more than she has bargained for.  The story takes off after that…

I really enjoyed Miranda’s character as a whole, she seemed to have such a good heart.  While she was trying to decipher everything that was headed her way. The cast as a whole was very delightful and uplifting.  I really enjoyed the fact that everyone just kind of adopted Miranda before they even knew her whole story.  She was just meant to belong there.  I love how Andrew plays father Christmas, and that the town changes the play every year just a little bit.  I enjoyed little Julia and Mark their characters were perfect.  Like I said while there is some moments of finding purpose through the light of Christianity it doesn’t preach to you.  Miranda seems to find her purpose through Christ in these two books.  She is such a wonderful character because while she wants to have the whole family affair she respects everyones wishes and keeps herself hidden.

I think the corkiness or mannerisms of each character is what makes these two books so relatable.  The setting of Christmas followed by the gorgeous countryside doesn’t hurt either.  Everything was really vivid in my mind, I never doubted anything that Miranda saw because the author wrote it so well. I would suggest both books to anyone! The only reason for the 4 stars is because I felt like I needed more after each book, maybe more scenes?  They are both pretty short books the two books together is under 400 pages.

Thank you to Robin Jones Gunn and Faith Words for the copy in lieu of my honest review.

In FINDING FATHER CHRISTMAS, Miranda Carson’s search for her father leads her unexpectedly to London with only a few feeble clues as to who he might be. Immediately welcomed into a family that doesn’t recognize her, and whom she’s quickly coming to love, she faces a terrible decision. Should she reveal her true identity and destroy their idyllic image of her father? Or should she carry the truth home with her to San Francisco and remain alone in this world? Whatever choice she makes during this London Christmas will forever change the future for both herself and the family she can’t bear to leave.

In ENGAGING FATHER CHRISTMAS Miranda Carson can’t wait to return to England for Christmas and to be with her boyfriend, Ian. She has spent a lifetime yearning for a place to call home, and she’s sure Carlton Heath will be it, especially when a hinted-at engagement ring slips into the conversation. But Miranda’s high hopes for a jolly Christmas with the small circle of people she has come to love are toppled when Ian’s father is hospitalized and the matriarch of the Whitcombe family withholds her blessing from Miranda. Questions run rampant in Miranda’s mind about whether she really belongs in this cheery corner of the world. Then, when her true identity threatens all her relationships in unanticipated ways, Miranda is certain all is lost. And yet . . . maybe Father Christmas has special gifts in store for her after all.
